Design

Summary

Herobound: Gladiators is a co-op battle arena game where players fight alongside three player allies against waves of enemies and bosses.

Design Goals

  • Create levels featuring four different themes (Water, Earth, Fire, Wind). 
  • Camera angles need to be in the four cardinal directions to allow for players to be able to look up and see each other's avatar in the game world in any direction. ​​

Responsibilities

  • Create 16 unique arenas and a loadout level.​​
  • In charge of initial enemy placement and wave scripting.
  • Prop/detail/set dress the arenas

Challenges

This game was built in Unity, but I had no experience in that engine at the time. This meant, with our incredibly tight deadline, that I only had a week or two to familiarize myself with the editor and the game. After learning the editor, I ended up having to make a level nearly every day to keep on schedule.
